Hourly to Salary Calculator

Convert hourly wage to weekly, monthly and yearly income — or reverse.

Comparing a job offer that pays hourly against one that pays an annual salary means converting them to the same basis first. This tool handles the conversion both directions — hourly to yearly and yearly to hourly.

The standard conversion assumption

A common baseline is 40 hours/week × 52 weeks = 2,080 hours worked per year, which is what this calculator uses by default. If you get paid time off, that number of hours is technically still "worked" in payroll terms even though you're not on the clock, so most salary comparisons don't subtract PTO weeks.

Hourly jobs and overtime

One real advantage of hourly pay: overtime. In the US, non-exempt hourly employees are generally entitled to 1.5× pay for hours worked beyond 40 in a week. Salaried "exempt" employees typically aren't — so a lower hourly rate with regular overtime can sometimes out-earn a salaried role with a higher nominal annual figure.

Frequently asked questions

Does this include taxes?

No — this converts gross (pre-tax) pay between hourly and annual figures. For your actual take-home pay, see our Net Salary Calculator or Income Tax Calculator.

What if I don't work exactly 40 hours a week?

Adjust the "hours per week" field to your actual schedule — the calculator recalculates the annual figure using your real hours, not the 40-hour default.
